About

My name is Elena Gogou.
I live in Greece.
In my life I wear many hats: artist, healer, writer, photographer, permaculturist, educator, mother...
I write 3 blogs in Greek, on earth wisdom & politics, motherhood, and the healing arts.
This website is dedicated to my art & photography.

Taking photographs and making art is a passion and a way of life: I never step out of the house without a camera and a notebook. I have a passion for sharing beauty. Never too far from crayons, pencils, watercolours, embroidery threads and scraps of cloth. I collect "things": driftwood, seaweed balls, shells, conifer cones, bones, feathers, seedpods. I see & make mandalas.

Photography: I believe in catching and storing the energy of the moment and the atmosphere it contains. I work with nature, never against it: human nature, as well as the nature that exists outside us. My work happens out of thoughtful and protracted observation.

Photographing places I seek the feeling and the atmosphere. In people I seek what expresses that unique inner essence that each of us has. In nature I seek knowledge, pattern, wisdom. I am always seeking & exploring new places, new plants.

I have worked as a commercial photographer in studio as well as on assignment. However, these days I prefer to work out of doors. My best work includes portraiture,  travel, landscape and nature photography. I have extensive portfolios of images of nature (flora and landscape), available on demand. I am always happy to be contacted for assignments. Prints of my existing photographs are on sale (please contact me for sizes and prices).

Art & Craft: I love making things. Letting my hand translate feelings, dreams, concepts, and atmospheres onto a page. I seek to explore inner space. I find myself seeking the true as opposed to the real. Mixing media and images. I love the aesthetics of reconstructed repurposed junk. I love metamorphoses. When I see an object on the ground a thousand ideas come to mind. I am happy to accept  commissions that leave me free to experiment.
